CS-01Spring 2025

The Paddock

Cotswolds, Gloucestershire

A tired 1960s bungalow on a half-acre plot in an established village. We replaced it with a contemporary single-storey home in local stone and oak, keeping the low profile of the original to satisfy the conservation area while doubling the internal floor area.

Elm Row

Surrey Hills AONB

Oversized Victorian villa garden subdivided to deliver two detached family homes with a shared driveway. Sensitivity to a row of mature elms along the western boundary drove the siting — both houses stepped to preserve the root zones.

CS-03Spring 2025

Chalcot Mews

Primrose Hill, London NW1

A neglected coachmen's mews yard set behind a run of Regency-style pastel-stucco terraces in Primrose Hill, previously used as a private-hire cab garage. Redeveloped into three contemporary mews townhouses in handmade stock brick and dark zinc, arranged around a restored York-stone setted courtyard. Access retained via the original 1847 archway, carefully repointed and now locally listed.

Spring 2025
Neglected cab-garage yard behind the 1847 archway
Three plots, crew on the footprint, archway propped
Three mews townhouses around a York-stone courtyard
— Outcome

Approved by Camden Council with a single design amendment. All three homes sold off-plan before practical completion. The original archway secured a locally listed designation during consents — now a heritage feature of the street.

CS-04Autumn 2024

Oak Walk

Harpenden, Hertfordshire

A tired 1970s detached house on a double-width plot in a mature commuter-belt cul-de-sac. Replaced by two contemporary family homes set back to hold the existing street rhythm — warm handmade brick and charred timber under clay-tile pitched roofs. The original mature beech street tree and two large front-garden oaks retained throughout construction.
